Amanda Lear “I’m Coming Up” (The Remix EP)

I'm Coming Up! - Amanda Lear

AMANDA LEAR “ I’M COMING UP ”
(THE REMIX EP)
OUTSIDER MUSIC (OM-022019)
Outsider Music teams up with French imprint, Edina Music, for the release of AMANDA LEAR “I’M COMING UP” REMIXES EP.  Featuring dynamic mixes by MOREL, TOMMIE SUNSHINE, SPECIAL OPS (aka SCISSOR SISTERS’  BABYDADDY and DJ SAMMY JO), and NIGHTRIDERS (aka Boston-based nu French disco duo, MATT JOHNSON and JOE FARIA), the single marks the inimitable singer/songwriter, painter, TV presenter, actress and novelist’s triumphant return to her club music roots with an energized and deliciously modern 21st Century electro-pop sound.AMANDA LEAR first came to the public’s attention as the fetish clad model on the cover of ROXY MUSIC’s seminal 1973 album ‘For Your Pleasure’. However, her physical trajectory took her from British Hong Kong to Paris in the ‘50s and then London in the swinging ‘60s and early ‘70s, where she began her career as a celebrated fashion model (and nightlife “celebutante”) working with designers such as Yves St. Laurent, Coco Chanel and Paco Rabanne. It’s a spectacular timeline of flash notes throughout much of the pop and art glitterati, and European high society of the late 20th century.

By the mid ‘70s, she had been romantically linked with BRYAN FERRY, ROLLING STONES’ BRIAN JONES and DAVID BOWIE (appearing in the live video for his 1973 hit single “Sorrow”), and was the muse of notorious surrealist painter and enfant terrible, SALVADOR DALÍ.

In 1975, she launched her musical career (largely encouraged by her then-boyfriend, DAVID BOWIE). Her deep and exotic, feline-like vocals evoked the seductive snarl, brash wit and provocative sultriness of MARIANNE FAITHFUL, GRACE JONES, MARLENE DIETRICH and German no wave conceptualist GINA X; while her slinky and colorful, burlesque-styled performances made her an alluring temptress.

By the early-mid ‘80s, the reputed glam goddess and striking femme fatale had established herself as the undisputed Queen of disco and hi-NRG throughout continental Europe, Scandinavia, Japan and other parts of the globe with pop hits such as “Queen of Chinatown”, “Follow Me”, “Enigma (Give a Bit of Mmh to Me)” and “Fashion Pack (Studio 54)”.

Largely a cult figure and underground gay icon in the States, Lear has enjoyed a successful 35 year career – most recently as a beloved chanson balladeer. She’s recorded 15 studio albums, released an astonishing 60 singles and sold over 15 million albums and 25 million singles worldwide.
